September Newsletter 2014

Dear Infant Room Parents,                                                                  Sept.  2014

  Wow, we are beginning September already and as you have seen, we have been busy in the infant room. We have new children starting weekly. Please be sure to introduce yourself to new parents as you see them.  Our annual Open House is Thursday, September 4^th, 6:30-7:30. Please feel free to come and bring grandparents or others, if you would like.

  General information about the room: 1) Infant care is on demand, as required by daycare licensing, this includes eating and sleeping. 2) We will try to follow your home schedule as close as we can in our setting. 3) Each month we will have a theme and a color focus. We have simple activities that we will do during the day as their interest and time permits. Check your child’s daily sheet to see what they have been doing during the day. 4) 2^nd stage Baby foods, Gerber rice & oatmeal cereal, and Joyful Noise menu items are available for your child. Please let us know (preferably in writing) what and when you would like us to feed them.  5) We will be using basic baby sign language with the children as we go about our daily tasks. I have print outs available and they are also found in your packet.

  Our theme for the month is: “Getting into the Swim of Learning” and our color focus is: Light Blue. We'll be talking and reading about boats, fish, turtles and other aquatic creatures. With infant care being on-demand we naturally will not have a group schedule but will be offering growth activities on an individual basis.

  A few important reminders:  Please make sure your child has a change of clothes or two in their cubbies, footwear for walkers and, a jacket or sweater for outside time - you never know about our ever changing Michigan weather.  Leftover Bottles are dumped daily, if left overnight.

*Bottles must be labeled with name & date. Remember to Mark ALL of your child's items with their name or initials, including slippers and coats.

  In an effort to help defray cost, each family is to bring at least one large package of unscented wipes a month for all to share.

  I will try to do monthly newsletters to keep you informed about our room.  We look forward to a wonderful year of gentle early learning. Also, once every month or so I will be sending home a Scholastic book order. This is a great opportunity to get nice books at a great price.

   Please feel free to speak with me if you have any questions or concerns. I am usually here 7:00-3:00 daily.  I appreciate any and all input from you on classroom matters.  Direct room #847-3512.

August 2014 Newsletter

Hello new infant parents!

It's great to meet you and have the opportunity to be working with your children. Welcome to the infant room and the beginning of lifelong learning! 

Our infant staff (Lead Teacher Miss Marti, Miss Pam, Miss Kaleigh) and other caregivers are looking forward to meeting you and your child! Your child will also be enjoying our various specials (music, kid's chapel and nutrition with our teachers Miss Chantal, Miss Bev, and Miss Kelli B.). Our administrative team downstairs (Director Sally Segers, Financial Director Sue Sturgill, Miss Bev and Miss Chantal) are ready to help you with any questions regarding payment, fundraising and special events, the website or anything else you are wondering about.

In the meantime, don't forget to look over your new infant packet and check out the daily infant activities, located on the wall in the infant room and online. There is also much to explore on our website at www.JoyfulNoiseKids.com. You'll want to pay extra attention to our Center Policies document (available under the “Parent Resources” tab) to read all the details of our health goals and other policies. We strive for a very happy and thriving environment in the classroom and a large part of that equation is our sick policy and cleaning/health practices.

You'll want to think about the basics as you prepare to start class this week: diapers, a pack of unscented wipes to contribute to the classroom, extra sets of clothes/bibs and comfort items (small "lovey" blanket, paci, etc.) for your child, and a few other things that can be found in the infant welcome packet.

Also, make sure you've filled out your parent questionnaire (attached to your new parent packet) so that we may begin to get to know your little one, and review our daily sheet routine, drop off and pickup policies. July 2014 Newsletter

 

Dear Parents,                                                                               July 2014

   For most of you this will be our final newsletter together. This year our transition day is scheduled for August 4th.  I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help and support in the past. I truly feel blessed to be able to share in the lives of your children over these past months and in some cases years.   They have grown up so much, it is incredible!  I will miss spending my days with them, but I am confident they will continue to grow and thrive in the Toddler Room. We have begun talking about their move and doing some visits next door.

  I have a feeling we will be stopping by to peek in on them and to give hugs.  Although we will miss each other, the move usually goes very smoothly.  They are so ready for all the exciting "big kid" things Miss Kelly V. and her assistants have to offer.  Be sure to bring your I.D. for pick-up as you may be encountering new faces.

 Many of you may have heard that Miss Cassie will be leaving us. We will miss her but are excited for her as she moves into her new home and begins this new chapter of her life.  Miss Amber and others will be helping out as we readjust to this change.

 Our theme for the month is "Proud to be an American" with some “Water, Water, Everywhere” added in. Our color focus is naturally, Red, White and Blue, to honor not only our country but also our beloved Coast Guard. Reminder: It is up to you to apply sunscreen first thing in the morning. We do have some available here in the room, if you forget. The afternoon caregivers will re-apply it after nap, if the children are going back outside.

Thank you all for helping out with room supplies! It is amazing the amount of wipes we go through between diapers and meal time. Your contributions are so appreciated!!

June 2014 Newsletter

        Dear Infant Parents,                                                           June 2014             

  Hello and welcome to summer! As we change seasons, we will continue on our regular loose format while allowing for more outside time. We have started trying to get out at least once or twice a day with the older children and they are loving it. PLEASE remember it is your responsibility to put on AM sunscreen. We will re-apply in the PM, after nap. Please send shoes & socks and a sunhat.

  Congratulations to Miss Kaleigh and son, Michael for winning last month’s book order incentive. A big thanks to all our families for ordering from Scholastics. Book orders are done for this school year and they will start up again next fall.

  Our theme for the month of June is "It's a Bug's Life".  Our color theme is “Light Green”.  We will be learning about some of God's smallest and most fascinating creatures.  We hope to be reading some cute bug books as well as bug hunting in the play yard.  We can usually find some ladybugs, ants, and worms.   We will also be working with the children on not being afraid of bugs.  We try to keep it very low key about flies, bees and the like.  We tell them "Shoo fly no bother me".  While I don't want them befriending every bug they see, I also don't want them to be so afraid that they can't enjoy their time outside.  After all we do live in Michigan and bugs are an unavoidable fact of life. 

      

 As for Tinies and Tweenies we will be working around nap times and try to spend some time outside. We have a wonderful grassy play yard designed just for them. It can be a bit of a challenge with all the oral exploration they like to do and texture issues with the grass but so worth it.

   #1  No crocs or sandals for walkers!                                     

   #2  LABEL all of your child's belongings!

   #3  Each family should be bringing in at least one large package of  

          Wipes a month & Soft Tissues, if you are able.

   #4  With vacation time here, please remember to let the JN office 

           know in writing what days your child will be gone.

Dear Joyful Noise Infant Parents,                                        April 2014

 Is it safe to say, Spring is on its way? We can hope. The infant room is full of activities and growth these days. We have 5-6 more children now walking around. It is so fun to watch them grow and master new skills. We are going to try and make time to get to the rec room but we only have a small window with working around the big kid’s schedule. Hopefully we will be able to get out to our little play-yard soon, too.

 On April 3 &4 the lead teachers will be attending the MiAEYC Conference in Grand Rapids. This is always a good time of learning and recharging the batteries. I am hoping to come back refreshed with new ideas for our little ones.

 Our theme for the month is, “For God so Loved the World.” We will be reading age appropriate books on Easter and possibly doing a craft or two. Our color focus will be on Purple. Congratulations to Jaxson and family on being late month’s top book order. This month’s order incentive theme will be, “April Showers”. Book orders will be due on the 10^th so we can get them here in time for Easter.

 New Michigan regulations state that no one over 4 months may use a swaddler and it is still no blankets until a year old. So if your child is in between you may want to consider bring in a sleep sack.      

A big thank you for remembering to mark all bottles, caps and food. This is not only helpful but a state requirement.  Please remember to put all eating changes in writing.  This would include adding new foods, adding a meal, and also, foods you want to shy away from for now.

 Staff is scheduled around children’s usual hours. If you need to bring your child early or have them stay late, please check with the office ahead of time to get approval. 2-3 days advance notice would be best.
